BIG NEWS for Tri-Star Construction Cape Town!

Tri-Star Construction Cape Town is excited to announce the start of our latest project, “9 Hopkins Salt River”.

On the 24th of January 2024, Tri-Star Construction Cape Town ceremoniously broke ground on the “9 Hopkins” project together with the Developer, Divercity Urban Property Group and Twin City, marking the commencement of an exciting new venture.

Divercity Urban Property Group, a developer headquartered in Gauteng, embarked on its first affordable housing development in Cape Town, introducing an innovative mixed-use development comprising of 398 apartments. The majority of these units will consist of 168 studios, 154 one-bedroom apartments, and 76 two-bedroom apartments ranging from 18m² to 50m². These apartments designed by Gass Architects will boast modern, upscale designs and incorporate ample open green spaces.

The city has a severe shortage of rental housing at rates under R8000 per month and Diversity CIO, Johnathan Reader, says this development aims to fill that gap.

In addition to the residential units, 9 Hopkins, located at the intersection of Yew, Hopkins, and Aubrey Streets, will offer 930m² of retail space, a clubhouse, gym, co-working area, and communal terrace. Residents will also have access to a private courtyard at the heart of the development.

9 Hopkins marks a significant expansion for Divercity beyond Gauteng, where the company has already established a reputation for developing quality, affordable accommodation in mixed-use developments that enhance urban living standards. Notable projects include the iconic Jewel City in Johannesburg CBD and the forthcoming Barlow Park on the outskirts of Sandton CBD, developed in partnership with Atterbury, Barloworld, the Moolman Group, and Twin City.

Charmagne Monk, the business development manager for Tri-Star Cape Town boastfully agrees that this is a ‘flagship” project for both Divecity and Tri-Star Construction. It is further stated that the team constructing these affordable housing units will uphold the stringent quality standards as they have done in the past.

The company recently completed phase 1 of the Goodwood social housing megaproject, comprising a total of 1,055 units, which commenced in October 2022, providing economical rental opportunities for approximately 4,000 Cape Town residents and their families. The entire 1,055-unit development is scheduled for completion by mid-2024, with a total project expenditure of R575 million.

The Tri-Star Construction Cape Town team is enthusiastic about contributing to the innovative 9 Hopkins project, furthering the Mother City’s initiative to address the need for affordable housing amid the current socio-economic climate.
